Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

If A Disaster Strikes Garland, Will You Be Ready?

History has taught us over-and-over that disasters do happen.  Garland is certainly not immune from their impact.  Flooding, tornados, hazardous materials incidents, and other natural or manmade events can quickly overwhelm the emergency resources of a city.  No matter where you are in this country, metropolitan or suburban America, due to the complexity of a disaster situation, it could take hours or even days for help and resources to arrive.  With the number of demands quickly exceeding the number of resources available to meet them, disaster response agencies (including the city of Garland) have to depend on external resources and personnel.  This is where you…the citizen…comes in!

Please take a moment to look through our site to find out how you can help!!

CERT Class 3 Graduates

Members of Garland's 3rd CERT Class graduated in November.  CERT Class 3 was the first class to use our new fire training facility on Hwy 66 (for better and worse).  The MCI drill was the most challenging to date as it was spread out geographically and had more victims than previous drills.  CERT members responded well and safely and accurately triaged over 30 victims.
